Mining company Marathon Digital announced the purchase of another 30,000 Antminer S19j Pro ASIC miners from the Chinese company Bitmain. The deal amounted to $ 120.7 million.

press release, the delivery of the purchased mining equipment will be completed by June 2022. Taking into account 30,000 new ASIC miners, Marathon will have 133,000 devices at its disposal, and the hash rate will be 13.3 Eh / s. Thus, Marathon will be able to control over 12% of the total Bitcoin hashrate. Marathon Digital CEO Fred Thiel said the company aims to dominate the Bitcoin network in terms of hash rate.
“Increasing the share of the total network hash rate will increase our Bitcoin holdings. Given the favorable conditions now in the mining industry, we believe that now is the right time to buy new ASIC miners, ”Thiel said.
The mining ban in China has greatly affected the international distribution of Bitcoin hashrate. North American miners are expected to control most of the industry.
