Marcelinho Carioca: What we know about the ex-player’s rescue case

Former player Marcelinho Carioca was found this Monday (18) and is at a police station, in Itaquaquecetuba, in Greater São Paulo. The former player had been missing since last Sunday (17), after leaving singer Thiaguinho’s concert at the Neo Química Arena, in Itaquera, east of São Paulo.

Marcelinho’s car was also located in the city of Itaquaquecetuba, metropolitan region of São Paulo.

Corporation agents who accompanied the former player told CNN that he was in captivity.

Former player found

Marcelinho Carioca was found on Monday afternoon (18). He was taken to a police station in Itaquaquecetuba, metropolitan region of São Paulo. The former player had a t-shirt wrapped around his head. He arrived in a police car.

Marcelinho’s rescue occurred after the police were called. Details about the ex-player’s rescue are yet to be announced.

Marcelinho Carioca will be interrogated to clarify who kidnapped him and how much was paid to the criminals. He should be heard at the Anti-Kidnapping Police Station, in the central region of the capital of São Paulo.

How did the disappearance occur?

Marcelinho disappeared on Sunday, after leaving singer Thiaguinho’s show at the Neo Química Arena, in Itaquera, east of São Paulo.

According to the Public Security Secretariat, three suspects were arrested by the Military Police in the region where a vehicle was found abandoned today (18), in Itaquaquecetuba. Also according to the SSP, the Automated Fingerprint Identification System was activated to investigate the circumstances and identify those involved.

Car found

The former player’s car was located by the São Paulo police on a street in the city of Itaquaquecetuba, in the metropolitan region of the capital. The location took place on Monday morning (18).

According to police in the region, the military from the 35th BPM/M were called by the Military Police Operations Center, after residents reported a case of vehicle abandonment, on Rua Jacareí, in the Jardim Valparaíso neighborhood.

A CNN had access to records from Detecta, an intelligent monitoring system in the State of São Paulo, which has cameras spread across several roads. The vehicle’s route between Neoquímica Arena and the last monitoring record is almost 27 kilometers.

The system points out that Marcelinho Carioca’s car approached the Neo Química Arena, in Itaquera, in the east zone of the capital of São Paulo, after 2:40 pm on Saturday (16). On social media, the former player even published a video at the stadium between late afternoon and early evening.

There are no records of the moment Marcelinho left the stadium. The data shows that between the Neo Química Arena and the place where the car was found, in Itaquaquecetuba, in greater São Paulo, the player’s vehicle passed two more radars.

The monitoring shows a last record made during the early hours of the morning, at 1:36 am, near Avenida João Barbosa de Moraes, in Itaquaquecetuba.
