Writer Marcelo Rubens Paiva, author of the book “I’m Still Here”-which gave rise to the film, attended the afternoon of last Monday (7) to the police station in São Paulo to formalize a complaint about aggression that suffered during the carnival in the state capital.
The aggression occurred on February 23, while Paiva paraded in the traditional Baixo Augusta Academic Block, in the region of Bela Vista. A man threw a can of beer and a backpack toward the wheelchair writer shortly before the parade began.
After the aggression, Marcelo Rubens Paiva and members of the block confronted the reveler, generating a brief riot that was quickly controlled. Despite the event, the bass Augusta academics parade continued normally.
According to the Civil Police, Marcelo Rubens Paiva and two others who were with him did not register the police report immediately due to an international trip, but attended the police station this week.
Police reported that the suspect has already been identified and recognized through photographs. Expert examinations were requested from the Forensic Medical Institute (IML) and the case will be investigated by police inquiry.
The case was registered as a bodily injury at the 6th Police Station for the Disabilities of the Department of Homicide and Protection of Persons (DHPP).
