CNN Agribusiness Specialist Marcos Fava Neves commented this Friday (25th) about biomethane – a renewable fuel that can replace natural gas, diesel and gasoline.
According to Fava Neves, biogas is produced “next to where it is consumed”. It is formed through the reuse of waste from agricultural activity, which can generate gases, electricity and fertilizers.
“For companies, it is interesting to take the cost of energy that they are forced to buy and start having their own energy generation”, explained the CNN Specialist.
Despite bringing benefits and lower costs, there is still a lack of interest and investment in biogas production. According to Fava Neves, the government’s facilitation of taxes for the production of this energy would be an important start.
“Brazil uses only 2% of what it could use biomethane, imagine the benefit that will come to the country when it uses the other 98%”, concluded Marcos.
