Marcos Fava Neves: High use of biofuels is a great opportunity for Brazil

THE CNN Specialist in agribusiness Marcos Fava Neves explained that the rise in oil prices and the search for sustainability drive the use of biofuels, which represents a great opportunity for Brazilian society.

“When the United States started mixing 10% ethanol in gasoline in 2005, 140 million tons of corn were destined for this use, and Brazil ended up occupying this space in the international market”, he explains.

While Americans are discussing increasing that percentage, other countries are promoting similar initiatives. For Neves, Brazil can expand the economy in a sustainable way to occupy the space in the international market that is no longer occupied by these countries.

“It is a great opportunity to increase exports, income generation and job creation.”
