One of the great heartthrobs of Brazilian television, Marcos Pasquim 54, admitted that he suffered from panic attacks during the recording of the soap opera “Kubanacan” (Globo, 2003-2004).
In an interview with TV Brasil's #SemCensura program, the actor recalled how the excessive amount of work made him resort to psychiatric medication.
“I did the entire 'Kubanacan' with panic syndrome (…) then I treated myself and took the medication for four years,” reported the artist. After this period, little by little, Marcos reduced his medication. “Nowadays I don’t take anything anymore”, he added.
“But it was because of excess of work. We worked too much, it was a lot”, explained the actor. Asked by Cissa Guimarães, 67, If exposure and fame contributed to the symptoms, Pasquim stated that everything was a combination of factors.
“Bring it all together. It was a period of a lot of work and stress”, said Marcos, who at the time, aged 33, played the protagonist of the story written by Carlos Lombardi . “Now, I know how to deal with time better”, concluded the artist.
