Sea Outside it becomes a musical. The plot of the successful TV series by Rai and Picomedia inspired the show that dwill debut on December 14th at the Teatro Augusteo in Napleswith the direction of Alessandro Siani.
Personifying those interrupted kids, who in a juvenile detention institution manage to have the opportunity to understand who they really are and what they want, are Rosa Ricci (Maria Esposito), Dobermann (Enrico Tijani), Totò (Antonio Orefice), Micciarella (Giuseppe Pirozzi), Milos (Antonio D’Aquino). One of the surprises of the cast is the singer-songwriter Andrea Sannino who, after debuting as the protagonist in the musical Street urchins by Claudio Mattone, returns as a protagonist on the stage. The writers thought of the role of the educator for him, which, unlike the series, will be central in the musical.
In these days, the cast gathered to begin rehearsals for the theatrical transposition of the story written by Cristiana Farina, Maurizio Careddu and Alessandro Siani. It is the story of a decisive and overwhelming feeling that, within the juvenile detention institution of Nisida, binds the heirs of the Ricci and Di Salvo families, between whom a senseless war rages. Rosa Ricci and Carmine Di Salvo feel that magnetic current that is uniting them and which they cannot escape, and meanwhile the educator Beppe sees in that love a glimmer of hope to overcome the tragic war between families. Music is the protagonist of this story, in which love, which overwhelms all the protagonists, leads them to discover themselves on a path of growth.
«The theatrical version of Sea Outside he certainly needed not to lose fundamental themes”, explains Alessandro Siani, “the reasons that brought the boys to prison, the family destroyed in its primordial values, the fight between gangs, the mocking delinquency which forces a non-“adult” person to make certain choices. It’s about reflecting on a sort of wasted youth, the daughter of a bitter and unacceptable destiny.”
The theme that pervades this theatrical transposition is the “moment”: finding yourself in the wrong moment, always missing the right moment, growing badly and continuing to make mistakes. «But can a new life be born from a death? You can survive and then be reborn forever» says Siani.
The musical direction is by maestro Adriano Pennino, while the choreography is by Marcello and Mommo Sacchetta. The production is by Best Live.
