Marginal Crater: SP City Hall plans to open emergency track

After the reopening of the crater at Marginal Tietê, the São Paulo City Hall is studying the possibility of building a emergency track in the central flowerbed with the objective of minimizing the impacts on traffic.

The statement was given on the morning of Wednesday (14) by Mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB). “The dealership will bear the costs for us to be able to make at least one free way to minimize the impacts on traffic. There is an area there in grass. It will be done there, is already being done to be able to release,” he said.

According to the mayor, the release of this additional track should be done later this week.

The hole, located in the list towards Castello Branco, was reopened last Sunday (11) and is in the same place where a hole had already appeared on April 10. Sabesp reported that a soil movement at the crater site requires complementary polls before the road can be partially reopened, prioritizing the safety of professionals and drivers.

Central da Marginal Tietê, towards Castello Branco, was fully banned at the time of the exit to the Bandeirantes Highway, on the day of the incident. Marginal Tietê’s local and expressed tracks in the same direction are released for traffic.

The São Paulo State Basic Sanitation Company (Sabesp) reported that it was triggered due to the reappearance of the undermining. Company teams worked on site.

According to Sabesp Engineering Director of Engineering, the cause of the new sinking is related to a crack in an inspection box of an 18 -meter -deep sewage interceptor. This structure is responsible for bringing sewage from northern São Paulo for treatment at Barueri station.
