It is known, for example, that there will be no catchphrase Barbie Girl by Aqua in the soundtrack (too bad, even if the music is entrusted to a master like Alexandre Desplat). It is known that the script initially bore the signature of Diablo Cody (Juno), who he later abandoned due to creative differences.

It is known that at one point there was a fear of running out of pink paint due to the immense amount used to rebuild Barbie’s world. And yes, also that the iconic foot arch will not be reconstructed with the special effects. A few days ago Michael Cera (Arrested Development) revealed that he was unable to take part in the whatsapp chat of the cast because he still uses a flip phone.

In short, the world of Barbie is less linear and simple than one thinks, especially if populated by the most diverse celebrities, from Dua Lipa to Helen Mirren (just seen in Fast X), from the new Doctor Who Ncuti Gatwa together with Emma Mackey, his colleague in Sex Educationup to Nicola Coughlan (Penelope of Bridgerton).

Meanwhile, from fiction we have moved on to reality because we are truly living a Barbiecore, with a return of the doll’s look but also with a preference for her favorite nuances. Even our world is getting pinkish and who knows if it’s not a process that leads to equality and parity.
