For the Los Angeles premiere, Margot Robbie made an exception to the all-pink rule for Barbie and dominated the red carpet in a stunning black gown. Such beauty was not enough to elicit even half a smile from her Ken, Ryan Gosling, imperturbable.

The wait for the film based on the famous Mattel doll is about to end also in Italy: the project, directed by Greta Gerwig, arrives in the halls of the Peninsula on July 20th. And for months, fans have been collecting the small details and previews of the production, but be careful not to spoil the final surprise.
It is known, for example, that there will be no catchphrase Barbie Girl by Aqua in the soundtrack (too bad, even if the music is entrusted to a master like Alexandre Desplat). It is known that the script initially bore the signature of Diablo Cody (Juno), who he later abandoned due to creative differences.

It is known that at one point there was a fear of running out of pink paint due to the immense amount used to rebuild Barbie’s world. And yes, also that the iconic foot arch will not be reconstructed with the special effects. A few days ago Michael Cera (Arrested Development) revealed that he was unable to take part in the whatsapp chat of the cast because he still uses a flip phone.
In short, the world of Barbie is less linear and simple than one thinks, especially if populated by the most diverse celebrities, from Dua Lipa to Helen Mirren (just seen in Fast X), from the new Doctor Who Ncuti Gatwa together with Emma Mackey, his colleague in Sex Educationup to Nicola Coughlan (Penelope of Bridgerton).

Everyone was there at the pink carpet of the premiere, including some DC Comics superheroes like Gal “Wonder Woman” Gadot and Xolo Mariduena, from August 11 at the cinema in the costume of Blue Beetle.
Of the plot, however, very little is known except that the characters live in Barbie Landthis perfect universe where everything works perfectly, every inhabitant is smiling and happy in an almost cloying way and obviously every detail is rigorously pink.

Perfection, as we know, requires perfection, and in Barbie Land as in Hollywood, there comes a time where sooner or later you give in. How this breakdown of nerves is staged is not yet known but the much promoted ability to speak to a multigenerational audience certainly intrigues.
Meanwhile, from fiction we have moved on to reality because we are truly living a Barbiecore, with a return of the doll’s look but also with a preference for her favorite nuances. Even our world is getting pinkish and who knows if it’s not a process that leads to equality and parity.
