Margrethe of Denmark is the first royal to receive the Covid-19 vaccine

It couldn’t have started 2021 in a better way, Margrethe of Denmark, the first royal to undergo the Covid-19 vaccine. The queen received it on January 1, as announced by the Danish royal house in an official statement.

No further details, for the moment we only know that the sovereign will receive the recall, essential for immunization, within about three weeks. And woe to hypothesize privileges: the queen Margrethe, 80 years old on April 16, is part of that weak group that takes precedence in this first phase of the vaccination campaign.

The Danish royal family, as well as many others, got to know the Coronavirus closely, which hit the kings to the throne Christian, son of the sovereign’s firstborn, Frederick, and his wife Mary, although without significant consequences.

The recent holidays, however, have been full of precautions also considering the fact that indoor meetings with more than ten people are not allowed in Denmark. So Margrethe spent the holidays with her second son Joachim and her four children, giving up the tradition of reuniting at Aarhus Castle. The prince, moreover, is still recovering after a delicate brain surgery (he had been operated on following a hemorrhage, while he was on vacation in France last summer, ed) and in some cases it is better to be cautious. Prudence also chosen by the queen, who by getting vaccinated has won the distinction of being the first monarch to receive it.

No news, however, on when it will be Elizabeth II’s turn, one who knows about records. Asked by Daily Mail, Buckingham Palace refused to give any information about it, as far as we know the queen and prince Philip, one hundred years next June, may well have already done so, but until there is confirmation it will be just rumors. No doubt, however, about some heads of state. American President-elect Joe Biden and his deputy Kamala Harris, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Czech Andrej Babis and Greek Kyriakos Mitsotakis have already been vaccinated. The good example starts from the top.
