María Corina Machado noted that the opposition is considering the possibility of using the first cryptocurrency as a national reserve.
“Bitcoin helps many people bypass government restrictions. It is not just a humanitarian tool, it has acquired another important function – cryptocurrency has become a means of resistance to the current political regime,” she said.
The politician believes that digital gold will help support economic freedoms, transparency of the state’s financial system and ensure the property rights of citizens.
Maria Corina Machado added that the current President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, is printing money without control, which has led to the paralysis of the national economy, and only non-traditional financial instruments, such as Bitcoin, can save the country from hyperinflation.
Earlier, the Venezuelan Ministry of Electricity imposed a total ban on cryptocurrency mining, justifying it by “stabilizing the national energy grid.” The ministry stated that the country’s energy security is more important than the digital asset mining industry.
