Mariah Carey: after deaths in the family, the diva’s shows in Brazil remain confirmed

Mariah Carey’s two performances scheduled for Brazil in September remain confirmed even after the death of the American singer’s mother and sister. The star will perform at the Allianz Parque stadium in São Paulo on the 20th; and then take to the stage at Rock in Rio on the 22nd.

The information was confirmed by CNN together with 30e, the company that produces the show for the “The Celebration of Mimi” tour in São Paulo, and Rock in Rio itself.

The voice of “Shake It Off” and “We Belong Together” revealed in People interview that her mother and sister died on the same day last weekend, in a situation she described as a “tragic turn of events”.

The “Emotions” singer said her “heart is broken” over the deaths of her mother, Patricia, 87, and her sister, Alison, 63. “My heart is broken having lost my mother this past weekend. Unfortunately, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day,” she said.

Las Vegas Residency

As announced by 30e, Mariah will bring to Brazil the show of “The Celebration of Mimi”, a residency in Las Vegas that celebrates the 20th anniversary of the release of the album “The Emancipation of Mimi”. The tenth studio album by the American singer marks her comeback after her divorce and the failure of “Glitter”, which was released on the same day as the September 11 attacks.

The album features hits such as “Shake It Off” and “We Belong Together”, which spent 16 weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. In addition to the hits on this album, the New Yorker also presents other milestones in her career such as “Hero”, “Heartbreaker” and “Fantasy”.
