By accepting the award Icon of the year, the singer Mariah Carey 55, honored the mother Patrícia Carey deceased in August 2024.
The event, which also honored the singers Lady Gaga, 38, and Taylor Swift , 35 occurred on Tuesday night (18).
“I want to honor my mother, Patricia Carey, for giving me the gift of the song,” said Mariah Carey, in presence at the event.
Carey also thanked her fans, whom she called “Lambmy.”
“To my fans, Lambuby. You were with me in every step of this journey,” she said. “Your love and loyalty are the greatest gift, and I am infinitely grateful for each of you.”
