The singer Mariah Carey 55, is about to re-recording “All I Want For Christmas is You” in celebration of the hit’s 30th anniversary as well as the album “Merry Christmas”, which originally featured the track. The singer first performed the song in October 1994 as the lead single from his Christmas album.
The R’n’B legend shared the news on his Instagram account this Wednesday (9), recreating the album cover, in which he appears dressed in a jumpsuit inspired by a Santa Claus costume.
In her post, Mariah wrote, “While it’s definitely not time to listen to Christmas music yet, I wanted to share a sneak peek of ‘MerryChristmas30’ with you! A tribute to the original album cover, here is the cover art for two of the four new physical singles from ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’.”
The album “Merry Christmas” was a huge success when it was released in 1994, selling 15 million copies.
“All I Want For Christmas is You” was co-written by Mariah and producer Walter Afanasieff, with the duo creating the track while working on three original songs for the Christmas album.
The song, which reportedly took just 15 minutes to write, generates a estimated profit of R$3 million per year in royalties for the diva.
Additionally, Mariah is about to embark on a North American holiday tour. The star will resume her Christmas celebration on 20 dates across the United States, starting in California on November 6th. The last show will be held in New York, on December 17th.
