Marielle case whistleblower must be transferred from prison to make way for former firefighter arrested on Monday (24)

Former military police officer Élcio Queiroz, accused of participating in the murder of councilor Marielle Franco, arrested in the Federal Penitentiary of Brasília since last month, must be transferred to part of the Penitentiary Complex of Papuda. The site is the responsibility of the government of the Federal District.

The idea of transferring between the complexes, which are side by side, is to make room for former firefighter Maxwell Simões Corrêa, Suel, arrested this Monday (24) by the Federal Police (PF) and the Public Ministry of Rio de Janeiro (MPRJ), to be relocated to the maximum security prison in Brasília where Élcio is. In this way, the two would not have contact.

On Monday night (24), the Justice of Rio de Janeiro determined the transfer of former sergeant of the Maxwell Fire Department to a maximum security prison outside the state. He was also arrested this Monday, on suspicion of involvement in the death of councilor Marielle Franco and driver Anderson Gomes and is being held by the PF.

Sources reported to CNN that the agreement is still being sewn and that there is an expectation that Maxwell may still, next week, be sent to another state, not staying long in the same place.

Questioned on the subject, the governor of the Federal District, Ibaneis Rocha (MDB), said only that if the transfers are confirmed, “all the support that is necessary to elucidate this barbaric crime must be borrowed”.
