Marine Le Pen, in 5 points

The French Ministry of the Interior has released the definitive data: Emmanuel Macron was the most voted candidate in the first round of the French presidential elections with 27.85%, while Marine Le Pen obtained 23.15%, earning the ballot with the premier outgoing. On 24 April the two contenders will compete again, as had already happened in 2017, for the conquest of the Elysée.

Marine Le Pen has been trying to become president for about ten years. The first time in 2012, it did not exceed 17% of the preferences. The second in 2017, in fact, when he lost in the ballot with Macron, and now, for the third time, with the same challenger. But let’s take a closer look at who we are talking about.

THE FAMILY
Lawyer and mother of three children, including twins, had between 1998 and 1999, Marine Le Pen has been divorced twice and separated three years ago from her latest partner, Louis Aliot, vice president of the party.

IDEAS
Marine Le Pen is a nationalist: she proposes, for example, to reserve public health for the French, and to abolish the ius soli through a constitutional referendum if she is elected. Thanks to the candidacy of the more extreme Éric Zemmour, the polemicist who earned 10% of the votes in the first round, she managed to appear more moderate.

THE FATHER
He “inherited” the party in 2011 from his father, Jean-Marie Le Pen, founder of the National Front, but expelled it four years later after he claimed that the Nazi gas chambers were a “detail of history”. In 2018 he also changed the name of the party from Front national to Ressemblement National. Today his campaign hides the name of the party and the cumbersome surname: his slogans are “Marine President ».

MONEY
Marine Le Pen’s program has two focuses: stopping immigration, and increasing purchasing power. It is above all on this second, more transversal theme that you focused your campaign, making various proposals such as the reduction of VAT from 20% to 5.5% on fuel, gas and electricity, or incentives for companies that raise wages.

SOCIAL
Marine Le Pen is the candidate who benefits from the largest social community especially on Twitter and Facebook, with 2.7 and 1.6 million followers respectively, because the Front National was the first French party to open a website over the years. ’90, to get around the lack of attention of traditional media.
