In an interview with CNN this Tuesday (22), Economy commentator Aod Cunha evaluated the behavior of markets in reaction to the economic proposals of the elected government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT).
According to him, “it’s no use having a discourse on fiscal responsibility without showing the way towards it”.
“The market is expecting a set of actions from the elected government. First: what will be the size of the license to spend, the famous ‘waiver’? BRL 70 billion, BRL 80 billion, BRL 200 billion? Second: how will it happen? Will it have a fixed or indefinite term?”, said Cunha.
“Later, he also expects progress in the discussion of the fiscal rule, in addition to clearer indications of who will be the names at the head of the economic team of the next government, such as Minister of Finance, Secretary of the National Treasury, Secretary of Economic Policy, Minister of Planning… When this set of information comes, a little more tranquility in the market is expected.”
