Markus Eder: “The Ultimate Run, my most extreme descent”

«The mountains, the snow, the skiing: they gave me the energy for life». The South Tyrolean skier Markus Eder looks like he was born with boots on as he demonstrates in his latest video, The Ultimate Run, 10 minutes of pure adrenaline on an incredible descent from the Swiss Zermatt glacier to the valley.

This documentary is the result of two years of filming by thegs of Steel, production company based in Innsbruck, directed by the former professional snowboarder Christoph Thorensen, four ski resorts chosen for their beauty and hundreds of descents, attempts, falls and successes. What was born from this mix and match is the creation of the perfect mountain, the one that allows the skier to express his incredible allround skills, from freeride to freestyle, also passing on groomed snow slopes.

Markus Eder’s adventure therefore starts from the immaculate snow of Zermatt in a pure freeride descent with super technical steps and tricks. After passing several blocks of ice, caves, snow walls, Markus arrives at the Klausberg ski resort, in his country of origin. A short freestyle session with friends then Eder returns to the fresh snow and crosses the medieval castle of Tures and the mining museum before arriving at sunset at the end of this incredible adventure.

Thirty-one years old and a great talent, Markus is one of the strongest interpreters in the world of disciplines in fresh snow, so much to be conquered in 2019 the Freeride World Tour bringing important innovations to the world of freeskiing.

«Skiing has taught me much more than just skiing and every time I go to the mountains I feel a sense of freedom that motivates me for everything else that happens to me in life. I hope to be able to pass it on and to pass this enthusiasm and this purpose also to those who will observe it, “he says.

Let’s start with the title: Why The Ultimate Run? What do you mean by definitive?
«Because, in two years of shooting, we wanted to create the perfect descent, able to show all the aspects of the mountain, from the glacier to the park, and all the possibilities it offers when it is covered in snow. Definitive in the sense of complete, total “.
