At least four people died and another 11 were injured in the collapse of a marquee on Sunday night (11) in the city of Aliança, in the woods area of Pernambuco.
Initially, the State Department of Health reported that there were five deaths. Later, however, the folder stated that there was a mistake: one of the victims, who is hospitalized, was mistakenly reported dead by the rescue teams.
At the time of the accident, at 8 pm, the parade for the city’s 94th anniversary of emancipation was taking place. The cause of the collapse is still being determined.
The victims, four women, were between 16 and 70 years old.
The injured were transferred to Restauração, Miguel Arraes and Otávio de Freitas hospitals in the city of Recife.
The Municipality of Aliança declared official mourning due to the tragedy.
The other festivities that were scheduled to take place during the week were cancelled.
