So many editions of Marriage at first sight one wonders if they shot them at the same time, if there is somehow a ready-made battery full of aspiring spouses who, like the trams that rest in the city’s depots, just wait for the right moment to come out, walk down the aisle and say “yes, I do”. And so, a few months after the edition he saw Francesco and Martina crown their dream of love (at the moment, let’s remember, they are the only ones to have resisted the experiment), here on Discovery + come new stories to be passionate about and new episodes to enjoy.
The new edition, the seventh overall and the fourth Discovery, will arrive in the clear on Real Time next October but for those who, like us, have not been able to wait fearing abstinence, we are here to take stock of a very high spoiler rate that we recommend not reading if you have not yet seen the new episodes.
*** ATTENTION SPOILERS ***
The first thing to clarify about this seventh edition of Marriage at first sight is that some participants seem to have enrolled in the program not so much to find a soul mate but to walk a path alone, testing limits that could very well be tested with a psychotherapy path not assisted by cameras. In short, we often did not feel the desire to build something together or, at least, to try. This is the case, for example, of Martina, who has decided to embark on this adventure while saying she is shy, having difficulty opening up and tolerating the presence of a man in her house, and Jessica, a woman with an entrepreneurial soul who struggles to have a man who is not at his pace.
THE COUPLES
The couples of this seventh edition of Marriage at first sight are, as usual, three: Martina and Davide, Sergio and Jessica and Dalila and Manuel. For different reasons, all three managed to make people talk about themselves, and not always in a positive way: Martina and Davide immediately present themselves as the Salvo and the Saint of this edition. She’s the one who holds the reins of the couple, she’s the one who makes the decisions, and she’s the only bride of Marriage at first sight to have asked the groom to sleep on the sofa and not in his bed (after all, she voluntarily signed up for a program that takes you to the altar. What foolish the authors to expect that the couple would share the marital bed). Sergio and Jessica are the classic diesel couple: they start slowly and then, slowly, they warm up and run fast. They are very different, they have two world views at the antipodes, yet something clicks and works between them: we cheered for them until the end and we had seen each other for a long time. They close the circle Dalida and Manuel, the petrol couple, the one that catches fire at the first bars like Clara and Fabio and then, just like Clara and Fabio, collapses buried by uncertainties and unspoken phrases.
MOMENTS TO REMEMBER
There have been many scenes that we will remember: from the late night confrontation of Davide and Martina with the pajamas to the trip by car of Dalila and Manuel; from Jessica’s cutlets bought (but passed off as hers) to Manuel’s introductions to Martina during the episode of the confrontation with couples. It was, from this point of view, a fairly balanced edition, even if it will be necessary to wait for the last episode, that of the following month, to find out if the premises will be respected or not.
THE EXPERTS
More secluded than in past years, they have not been seen much. To try to do his was above all Andrea Favaretto, the new entry of this edition took over from Fabrizio Quattrini, who has, yes, opened Sergio’s eyes to make him live the relationship with Jessica more serenely, but without being able to create the right degree of empathy with the public (at least for now). Rare and isolated the comments of Nada Loffredi and Mario Abis, who did not make themselves heard even during the final confrontation which, in the past, often reserved great satisfactions by unmasking the intentions of certain couples. It was a shame to see some kind of complacency to this round, but let’s hope it’s just an isolated case.
