If there was a moral winner of the ninth edition of Marriage at first sight it would certainly be him: let’s talk about Alex Balbo, the Roman boy who shared the experience of the Real Time program together with Michela Bono only to then confront himself more than with an obstacle course full of prejudices than with a couple’s journey to be to build. From the very first episode, in fact, it was clear that Michela had various preconceptions for Alex about the fact that he did not come from Northern Rome, that he had tattoos and, above all, that, according to her, was not as cultured as she. A classism that inevitably led the public to take Alex’s side also by virtue of what happened in the last episode of Marriage at first sight broadcast first on Discovery + and then on Real Time, the one that saw Michela get closer to him in time for the final choice in order to try to win the sympathy of the spectators one last time.
The game, however, was discovered immediately, and Alex found himself alone once again, but with incredible affection and solidarity from those who saw in him a rock to cling to. And while Michele and Solange, the only surviving couple of this edition, confess that their friendship with Alex couldn’t be more solid, this time he is the one to speak. In his first real interview after the end of the experiment, Alex confesses to Vanity Fair his thoughts: he does it in a frank and laconic way as one would have expected from him, giving away a scoop that could arouse the interest of his fans: yes, after the end of the relationship with Michela, he is still single.
You have invested a lot in the path that you have traced with Michela: disappointed by how it went?
“It’s true, I’ve invested a lot in my career and that’s why I always experience the end of a relationship as a failure”.
Last time you heard?
“We met a few days ago to clarify some points that we hadn’t clarified anymore”.
Has reviewing the episodes over the last few weeks made you rethink any responses or different behaviors you could have had with her?
«Surely reviewing the episodes in some situations I would have acted differently, but in any case I’m happy with how I have positioned myself throughout the journey».
The concept that has passed from the television editing is that Michela felt, at least culturally, “superior” to her: what is your opinion of Michela from this point of view? Insecurity or desire to set boundaries?
“I think she really didn’t feel superior, she did it more as a defense, this thing was then overcome by her knowing us, only that in my mind it was too late now”.
Is there anything, however, in which you feel superior to Michela?
“I don’t feel superior to anyone, we can all learn from everyone.”
I know you are a friend of Francesco Nuzzi: did you talk to him after the programme? Did she give you any advice?
«The advice that a friend who really knows you can give you is to be yourself, and he has always advised me this».
Is he dating anyone now or is he single?
“I’m fully single for all intents and purposes.”
Are you happy with how it went between Michele and Solange?
“I’m super happy because I’ve been very attached to Michele from the first moment we met, and as a result I’ve also become very close to Solange: I wish him all the love in the world”.
What do you foresee in its future?
“More than predicting, I hope to be happy and to find love: maybe 2023 will be the right year”.
