The reunion, as we know, is the moment Marriage at first sight which the public awaits with more anxiety and trepidation because it is the occasion in which couples finally have the opportunity to look in the mirror and understand whether their journey within the program up to this moment has gone well or badly. In this edition, things then take on greater weight given that, unlike previous years, the couples did not meet either at the time of selection by the experts or halfway through the process, when the production believed that bringing together the boys and girls would benefit the internal dynamics of their adventure. Who knows Marriage at first sight knows well that the reunion it is perhaps the most interesting and cruel phase of the entire program. Interesting because social beings, immersed in a broader context, reveal sides of themselves that they otherwise would not bring out, and cruel because, a bit like what happened in that masterpiece of Classmates of Verdone, each couple glances at the others with a bit of malice, hoping that they are not the ones in the worst situation.
From the beginning of this meeting, it is immediately clear that the couple who suffers more than the others is the one formed by Juanchi Sanchez and Gianna Di Rosa, the only one to have never exchanged even a kiss. Encounter Alessandro D’Agate and Valentina Mangili and especially, Alberto Miliziano and Sonia Liverani and seeing them so complicit and close-knit is, both for Gianna and for Juanchi, a hard blow. Also because couples do nothing to hide their serenity, on the contrary. Faced with the evident difficulties of the two boys, it comes almost spontaneously to underline one’s strength through an increasingly marked closeness towards the partner. In all this whirlwind of kisses and hugs, as well as stories about first times and the honeymoon, Gianna and Juanchi sketch without, however, disguising much the delusion which Sonia and Valentina decide to defuse by offering them advice to unblock the situation. The reunion of the couples of Marriage at first sight thus becomes a couple’s session for Gianna and Juanchi, who within an evening receive impressions and exercises to do as if on the other side there were not two other couples enrolled in the program like them but the experts.
Gianna and Juanchi’s embarrassment is evident, and also more than justified: the two, at a certain point, feel almost wrong at the thought that Sonia and Alberto and Valentina and Alessandro have succeeded where they decided to give up, but this feeling is wrong. Everyone is made in their own way and everyone has their own sensitivity: Gianna and Juanchi’s mistake, if we can call it that, was perhaps that of not understanding each other and not getting fully involved. Juanchi should have taken more of the initiative and Gianna should have been less defensive, ready to be amazed. This was not the case, and we doubt that the two, until the final choice of Marriage at first sightwill suddenly manage to make work what, by necessity, has become a cage from which to escape. It remains that, despite their good intentions, Sonia and Alberto and Valentina and Alessandro have indirectly transformed the reunion into a celebration of their triumph, given that they were lucky enough to get along well with their partner and to have enjoyed it to the fullest. We don’t know if, after the end of Marriage at first sight, they will choose to stay together or separate, but it is clear that they did everything they could to make the experiment work. Which, unfortunately, Gianna and Juanchi did not manage to do.
