The arrest was validated. Ilia Batrakov, seriously suspected of aggravated mistreatment resulting in death towards his partner, Marta Maria Ohryzko, who was found dead on Sunday in a ravinein Ischia, is now in the Poggioreale prison.
The woman, who had fallen into the vegetation, had asked him for help and had also spoken to him on the phone: the place where her body was found is not far from the caravan where the two had lived together. The man, however, ignored the messages (which he deleted). He told the police that, at a certain point, he went to look for her: she was still alive and he told her to stay there and sleep. The first tests on the body revealed a fractured ankle, consistent with the fall, and bruises on the face. But there are no signs of suffocation or strangulation.
«Why didn’t she call me? Why didn’t she call someone who could help her?“, asks Tetiana, Marta Maria Ohryzko’s sister. “I called her at about 7 p.m., asking her why she hadn’t answered the phone all day. She replied that she had slept because she was tired, that she was at home with him, that she would prepare food and stay there,” she told Sky Tg24. «I answered her that Dad and I were worried, he had to go back home with his familythat I would go with the police to get her if she didn’t listen to me. She begged me not to, replying that she would return on Monday.”
The story between Marta and Ilia was violent and dysfunctional: «In these years he threatened her and us too. He is Russian and he offended us as Ukrainians. Over the years I have been to the authorities several times. to express my concern, after episodes of violence, but she never wanted to formalize a complaint because she was terrified of her partner, who threatened to kill her and us, if she reported something”. Tetiana’s reports, however, had been archived, in the absence of confirmation from the victim.
Tetiana finds it hard to believe that Marta Maria Ohryzko fell into the ravine alone and that, despite it being only a couple of meters deep, she was unable to get out. The investigations, however, do not suggest any other hypotheses. «I want the truth. I can’t believe what happened».
Ilia Batrakov instead told the investigating judge, as his lawyers reported, that “he loved the woman and had always helped her. She had health problems and he had always worried about her. Now she is very ill because of what happened.”
