Yesterday, September 9, Disney held an official event, during which, together with the developers from Marvel Games Showcase, a new augmented reality mobile game was presented, which is the responsibility of the Niantic team. The upcoming project was called MARVEL World of Heroes, but so far too little information has been told about it to even roughly understand the essence of the gameplay, direction and other features of the video game. During the presentation, the development team showed the first teaser of the project, which looks quite interesting, but for now that’s it.
It is worth recalling that it was Niantic who first implemented gameplay based on movement in the real world using augmented reality – then Ingress, unfortunately, could not gather an army of fans. However, after some time, Pokemon GO was introduced, which literally turned the mobile entertainment market upside down, and now, a few months after the closure of Harry Potter: Wizards Unite on the same technology, the team announced MARVEL World of Heroes. And although the teaser showed almost nothing but a couple of interesting moments, the project developers casually told some details during the presentation.
For example, in the game, most likely, there will be an opportunity to cooperatively complete tasks and, of course, explore the world for something. The fact is that the developers announced their desire to provide gamers with the opportunity to cooperate and satisfy their curiosity while exploring the world. The game will also have a flexible character customization system – MARVEL World of Heroes will have avatars mechanics that the player can customize quite flexibly to express the appropriate physique, gender, clothing settings, and so on. Apparently, there will be a lot of cosmetic items and options for customizing appearance.
In addition, the upcoming MARVEL World of Heroes is very likely to be an MMORPG – one of the developers said that he can’t wait to see how players will interact with each other in this genre, taking into account the Marvel virtual universe. At the same time, there will be some kind of multiverse, so that gamers will be able to travel between worlds, meet characters from alternate realities, and more. There is no exact release date yet, but the project will definitely be launched on both iOS and Android in the near future.
