How does an artist get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame?

According to the official website, anyone, including a fan, can nominate a celebrity to receive the honor. However, the fan can only nominate the artist if the artist or his/her manager agrees with the nomination.

Each year, approximately two hundred applications are received and the nomination period for 2024 has now closed.

After the nomination, a vote takes place, scheduled annually in June. An average of 24 to 30 stars are selected each year. After being chosen, the celebrity has two years to schedule their ceremony. If this period expires, a new request will have to be made.

The criteria for receiving a star consist of: professional achievement, longevity in the category of five years or more, contributions to the community, and the guarantee that the celebrity will attend the dedication ceremony if selected.

For the ceremony, it will be necessary to pay an amount of US$ 75,000 (approximately 371 thousand reais) to manufacture and install the star, in addition to paying for any maintenance.
