Mary J. Blige, queen of lengths to Rapunzel at Super Bowl 2022

At the highly anticipated Super Bowl halftime show, Mary J. Blige, 51, was the undisputed queen who dazzled nearly 100 million spectators. On her stage, together with her, her colleagues (other undisputed icons of the hip-hop scene) Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Kendrick Lamar.

The nine-time Grammy-winning star performed her hit Family Affair in silver bodysuit, paired with thigh-high boots, and captivated the audience with her Rapunzel look: long blonde hair up to the buttocks with soft and sinuous waves.

Her hair style was signed by the hairdresser Tym Wallace who applied the extensions of Upgrade Boutique for an effect XXL immediate. A scenographic result, which Wallace, as he said, would have further accentuated by exaggerating a little more with the lengths. It was the singer herself who put a condition to restrain him: that her hair was not too long in order to move comfortably on stage. “We have reached a compromise,” she told her to Vogue.co.uk Wallace himself.

In addition to working on the centimeters, Wallace also modified the color, darkening the roots of that platinum blonde of his, recently baptized as expensive blonde, that lately depopulated among the divas. “It’s super edgy, but so beautiful,” she says.

The last step, then, concerns the creation of the waves, for which the hairstylist used two irons with different diameters, before opening them and giving them a more natural texture with the help of your fingers. “It gives them more volume and adds movement,” she explained, completing it all with texturizing and volumizing products.
