Mass arrests in Turkey of suspects for relations with the Islamic State

The Turkish authorities arrested on Saturday 34 suspects for relations with the jihadist organization Islamic state (IS), in the context of a large-scale operation, as announced by the Minister of the Interior Ali Gerlikaya through X.

The suspects who were taken into custody are foreigners, wanted under red notices (including international arrest warrants) of Interpol, Mr. Gerlikaya explained, adding that the police also proceeded to confiscate several pistols that were in the possession of the suspects without a permit.

Its principles Turkey have stepped up operations against IS after last Sunday's attack on a Catholic church in Istanbul that left one person dead.

Police have arrested 25 suspects in the investigation into the attack, including the two alleged perpetrators, Turkey's Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc said Friday.
