Massa will explore fear, weapons and preach “national unity” in the 2nd Argentine round

After winning the first round of the Argentine presidential election and seeing third place, Patricia Bullrich, announce support for Javier Milei this Wednesday (25), government candidate Sergio Massa began testing TV commercials for the final stretch of the campaign.

According to Brazilian members of the Peronist candidate’s communications team interviewed by CNN the strategic axis of the second round will be “national unity” against the opponent, who will be treated as a threat to the future of the country due to his radical and “isolationist” proposals.

Among other proposals, Milei said he will dollarize the economy, release weapons to the population and end the Central Bank if he wins the election. He also called President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) a “communist”.

Massa’s marketers are also looking for an antidote to criticism of the economy minister of a country with inflation of almost 140%.

The commercials will say that Massa had the “courage” to take on “with a knife in his teeth” the challenge of recovering the country’s economy.

“As they say here, he got the ‘papa caliente’. He had the courage to take on the ministry recently at a time of difficulty,” said one of the marketers.

On another front, the campaign will also reinforce the bet on fear and explore the opponent’s promise to release weapons.

In a Peronist commercial, a child enters the classroom, opens his backpack and takes out a pistol. Then, shots are heard and a caption says: “In Argentina, fortunately this is not reality. But it could be with the free sale of weapons.”

After receiving support from Patricia Bullrich, Javier Milei’s campaign adopted a more moderate tone in the second round, but now advocates unity against Kirchnerism.
