An incredible massacre took place in a house in South Carolina USA, where a former NFL player killed a doctor, his wife, two grandchildren and another man, before turning his shotgun on himself, according to the Associated Press.
Philip Adams opened fire on Rock Hill’s home late Wednesday afternoon, sources told the AP.
The dead are 70-year-old doctor Robert Leslie, 69-year-old wife Barbara Leslie, two grandchildren aged 9 and 5, according to the sheriff’s office. Adams’s death is due to suicide.
The fifth victim, 38-year-old James Lewis, was working at home at the time of the incredible tragedy, and was shot deadly. An unidentified sixth person was taken to hospital with gunshot wounds, authorities said.
A source told the AP that Adams’s parents live near the doctor’s house and that there have been patients. The sheriff’s office also learned that they had been searching for the suspect for hours before finding him at a nearby house. Adams ended his life after midnight.
Sheriff’s office spokesman Trent Faris said the investigation was ongoing and added that Leslie was doctor of when he was growing up. “He was one of those people that everyone knows,” he explained.
The doctor and his wife of 35 years have four children. Leslie has been practicing medicine in the area since 1981.
