Massacre in Texas: The elementary school classroom commemorative photo breaks hearts

A souvenir photo of his fourth grade elementary school in Texas where the tragedy unfolded on Tuesday with 19 dead students cracks hearts. Young children smile in the photo, which was taken earlier this year at the school in the town of Uwalde, which is now mourning.

DailyMail.com has so far been able to identify 11 of the 17 children in the picture as victims of the tragedy.

They are Eliahana Cruz Torres, 10 years old, Lexi Rubio, also 10, Annabelle Guadalupe Rodriguez, 10, Maite Yuleana, Xavier Lopez, 10 years old, Rojelio Torres, 10, Uziyah Garcia, 8, Jayce Carmelo Luevanos, 10, Jacklyn Cazares, 10, Layla Salazar, 10 and Jose Flores, 10. The teacher also in the photo did not die.

A total of 19 children were killed on Tuesday, as well as two teachers by 18-year-old gunman Salvador Ramos. He had bought his gun a week before legally.

The massacre is the worst of its kind since then at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012, leading the US president to say: “When in the name of God will we stand tall in front of the arms lobby?”
