At least four people died after a massacre occurred in an illegal mining area in Mato Grosso. The crime took place in the Sararé Indigenous Land, in Pontes e Lacerda, located about 480 kilometers from Cuiabá.
According to the police, the incident occurred last Monday (23). Two people who were injured were left at the door of a hospital in Pontes e Lacerda. One of them died at the health unit.
The victim who did not survive was identified as Flávia Melo Miranda Soares, 20 years old. The other, a 33-year-old man, remains in serious condition.
On Tuesday (24), the police found three more bodies, all male, which showed signs of gunshots. None of the victims were identified.
The Civil Police say there are suspicions that there are more bodies in the mining region.
