«MasterChef Italia 10»: because (only) Irene deserves the final

A well-marked line should separate personality from talent, allowing a MasterChef Italy to play on the characters without, therefore, betraying the rationale of the show, where the kitchen, and this alone deserves to be the protagonist. What, this, that the tenth edition of the show seems, however, to have denied. MasterChef Italy, which Thursday evening has forced to eliminate Edward and Jia Bi, decided, this year, that the (supposed, supposedly) pleasantness of certain competitors should have prevailed over their (blatantly reduced) culinary skills. And so it was. Monir, miraculous to the point of having saved himself in the fight with Max, despite an overcooked and dry crab, he guessed only one dish, and he did it on Thursday evening. Monir was judged the best in the test held by Andrea Tortora, pastry chef with three Michelin stars. But the victory in the modern preparation of panettone seems to have had something casual. Why Monir, in the televised run of MasterChef, he was the guy of hard pasta, of overcooked fish. He was the one who saved himself when his own brigade lost; the only one responsible for the failure of the sweets in the outdoor tests. Yet, in the kitchen of MasterChef, it has always held its place dear, as did Federica, whose basses, rarely in past editions, have been judged forgivable.

Monir e Federica, on the way to the final, there are too many competitors at stake for the (often negative) rhythm given to the show rather than for proven skills. They are wrong, and they are acquitted, while others, in the same stove, have to fight, and really do it. Aquila, Antonio, Azure and Irene, having passed the twentieth episode unscathed, found themselves hoping to win. But only Irene, in the 2021 class of the Sky show, would deserve a chance.

Mind you, nothing against Aquila e Antonio and Azzurra, all endowed with real abilities. But Irene, among the stoves of MasterChef, it seems to be the only one focused on its own path. Not intending, that is, to sabotage others in order to be successful. Antonio and Aquila, whose machismo led to a challenge in the challenge, got caught by the desire to humiliate those around them, and the result was a feeling of discomfort. Of false competition, unfair at times. And it is a pity, because at the beginning of the broadcast, if we were asked to indicate a winner, we would have mentioned the name of Aquila and that of Antonio, without distinction. Two months later, however, we find ourselves hoping that it is Irene, with her pink and orange hair and the sincere desire for redemption, to take the road to the final. Maybe, together with Azzurra, concentrated enough not to be annoying.
