THE Matarazzo City and Bradesco bank announced the opening of the cultural center Bradesco House located in the Matarazzo complex, close to the famous Paulista Avenue, in the capital of São Paulo. The site has 5,000 square meters and opens to the public from September 15th.
To celebrate the beginning of this new phase of the venture, the first exhibition is by the British visual artist Anish Kapoor — one of the best-known works of contemporary art. One of the works he presents is “Hidden Mirror/Shulamite and Lajja Gauri” (see the image above), in the exhibition room called “Here “.
Under the care of the curator Marcello Dantas the exhibition hall has 2,000 square meters and will dedicate its programming to Brazilian culture and artists. In addition, Casa Bradesco is made up of three other interdisciplinary spaces that integrate art, music, innovation and history.
The “There” is dedicated to children and childhood, who can explore their artistic skills in a playful, interactive and educational way; the “Above” is a laboratory, where people connect through workshops, courses, lectures and a creative club for 500 members; the room “Below” offers different types of artistic exhibitions, as well as a diverse and immersive program.
The Italian-French architect Rudy Ricciotti is the creator of the conceptual project for Casa Bradesco. His resume includes other monumental works, such as the Department of Islamic Arts at the Louvre Museum and the MuCEM museum, both in France. The SPOL Architects office brought the concept of tropicalization and the final project for the new cultural center.

“After a long period of being away from nature, it is time to find the courage to reinvent and regenerate ourselves. I believe that creativity is an antidote to reconnect human beings with their origins and rebalance their lifestyle. Casa Bradesco emerged from this urgency to promote creativity by celebrating all forms of art and welcoming creators of all styles and origins,” he says. Alexandre Allard founder of Cidade Matarazzo, in a note released to the press.
The cultural center is part of the Matarazzo City ecosystem, a complex of preserved buildings from the early 20th century that have been transformed into private residences, high-end shops and entertainment venues. The address is already home to the Rosewood São Paulo hotel and the Soho House private club.
