Matt LeBlanc pays tribute to Matthew Perry: “It was an honor to call you a friend”

Matt LeBlanc, known for playing Joey from “Friends”, spoke for the first time about the death of co-star Matthew Perry, who died in October this year. On social media, the actor published a tribute to his friend this Tuesday (14).

LeBlanc is the first of the other five in the series’ main cast to speak out individually about the loss. “It is with a heavy heart that I say goodbye. The moments we were together are honestly among my favorite moments in my life”, he begins in his text.

“It was an honor to share the studio with you and call you a friend. I will always smile when I remember you and I will never forget you. Never,” she adds.

“Spread your wings and fly, brother. You are finally free. Much love. And I think you will keep the twenty stories you owed me”, he concludes in the publication.

Matthew Perry died on October 28 of this year, aged 54. He brought the character Chandler to life on “Friends”. In fiction and also in real life, he was friends with LeBlanc.

Also in October, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc issued a joint statement to People magazine about the death.

“We are all completely devastated by the loss of Matthew. We were more than just castmates. We are a family. There is so much to say, but now let’s take a moment to grieve and process this unfathomable loss. Over time we will say more, as and when we can. For now, our thoughts and love are with Matty’s family, his friends and everyone who loved him around the world,” they wrote.
