Matt Smith reveals favorite word in Portuguese and praises relationship with Brazil

The actor Matt Smith 42, revealed, this Friday (6), that “longing” is his favorite word in Portuguese. The star of “The Crown” and “House of the Dragon” came to São Paulo to participate in the Comic Con Experience (CCXP 24).

In an interview carried out on the Omelete Stage, he explains that he likes the term because it does not have a direct translation into English. “It’s like a feeling, isn’t it?”, he adds.

Throughout the chat, in addition to drinking beer with the presenters and saying “cheers” when toasting, the Brit showed knowledge of other words in Portuguese such as “tamo Junto”, “moicano” and even “queima quengaral”, which is became a meme with the scenes from “House of the Dragon”, in which he brings Daemon Targaryen to life.

Matt Smith also praised the country by saying that he has already come to Brazil a few times and has been to three Carnival holidays, however, he has never been to a parade and says that it is something he needs to do. Then, he also says that he already spent New Year’s Eve here and even “jumped the seven waves”, which is considered a popular Brazilian tradition for some people.

In addition to talking a little about the productions in which he has been present over the years, the artist recalled his career before entering the film industry, when he was a football player in England.

“That’s why I love Brazil so much and Rio too, because every day you go to the beach and people are playing footvolley. It’s so deep in the culture and football is one of my biggest passions and I went to watch São Paulo play a few days ago, but they lost. I’m sorry, São Paulo”, he mentioned.
