Mariah Carey is not only a staple of Christmas celebrations. Now the Christmas queen will be able to be present under the trees of fans all over the world. Mattel announced its Barbie featured as the singer in its music video for the anthem “All I Want for Christmas Is You”.
The doll went on sale this month for US$75 (approximately R$368). “As a kid, I didn’t have a lot of toys or things,” Mariah told People magazine, recalling her sometimes difficult childhood. “The only thing I really wanted was Superstar Barbie.”
As a gift, the brand surprised the singer. “When I first started working with the Barbie people, they sent me a bunch of Superstar Barbies and it was really sweet,” she says.
According to Mariah, in an interview with “People”, she had some feedback regarding her Barbie version. “I had some notes, yes,” she says. “The hair, other things. But when I saw my doll, I thought, ‘Oh my God, that’s so cute.’ Because it’s based on the Christmas dress I wear in the second video for ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You,’ directed by Joseph Kahn.”

Mariah points out that there is a difference in her dress. “They wouldn’t let the ‘V’ of the dress hang as low as it does in the video,” she says. “But I understand, because it’s a holiday and everything. But I’m like, ‘Oh, Barbie, you’re so demure.””
“If I could go back and tell my little girl that one day I would have a Barbie made in my likeness, I would go crazy!”, says the singer.
