US President Joe Biden appealed this Tuesday (8) for people who have been ordered by authorities to leave now before Hurricane Milton arrives in Florida. The Democrat said it is a matter of life and death.
“This could be the worst storm to hit Florida in over a century, and God willing it won’t be, but it’s looking that way right now,” Biden said.
Biden added that he approved emergency declarations in Florida and asked airlines to accommodate outbound movements without price gouging.
Hurricane Milton was expected to expand this Tuesday (8), when it passed through the Yucatán peninsula in Mexico en route to the Gulf coast of Florida, where more than 1 million people were ordered to evacuate before the storm arrived.
The densely populated west coast of Florida, still recovering from the devastating Hurricane Helene less than two weeks ago, prepared for the phenomenon’s arrival in the Tampa Bay area scheduled for this Wednesday (8).
