Maximos’ assessment, after 156 ‘no’ to the motion of censure – ‘Boomerang for Tsipras’

By Dimitris Gatsios

In the hours following the announcement of the result in Parliament on the motion of censure submitted by SYRIZA, government officials assessed the three-day plenary process, at the end of which the motion of Alexis Tsipras and Koumoundourou στο fell into the vacuum with 156 negative votes.

At Megaro Maximou, there is satisfaction with the fact that expressed goals, such as those of the detailed presence of the government in critical areas of the economy and the daily life of citizens, but also the emergence of the gap between New Democracy and SYRIZA were in the forefront, with Kyriakos Mitsotakis to deliver a speech in a mild style, far from extremes, to which, however, he responded in detail and to whatever shots the leader of the official opposition chose to launch. The dividing lines between the two parties came to the fore again, emphatically, by the Prime Minister, who constantly highlights the dilemma of the next ballot box, at a time when the government is now called upon to move on to the next day of “Hope”, correcting failures and accelerating project production on this… bridge to the post-Covid-19 era. Against this background, at the same time, the Prime Minister pointed again in the direction of the continuous expansion of Piraeus Street into commons, beyond the “blue” party walls, always aiming at autonomy, as he often does in his public statements.

“Our faction, as I have said many times, is open to any fruitful idea from any current. It is a faction that has proven in practice that it can welcome any progressive citizen. And we meet with him not only in the program declarations but also in difficulties because of the implementation of our government program. “then the period of return of the great incisions that have taken place will begin and it will really be the time of prosperity for all”, was the characteristic disgust of Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Government officials, in the aftermath of the three-day “battle” in the Plenary Session of the Parliament, estimated, in discussions, that the submission of a motion of censure turned into a boomerang for the president of SYRIZA.

In this context, they highlighted the fact that the Prime Minister, the ministers and the New Democracy MPs had the opportunity to analyze in detail the government work of these 30 months. “Kyriakos Mitsotakis spoke about policies, strategies, but also about Greece of tomorrow. On the other hand, Alexis Tsipras, for most of his speech, spoke about Menios Fourthiotis”, was the common component of the positions of government agents. After all, from the first moment of the movement of the president of SYRIZA, close associates of the prime minister spoke about an Alexis Tsipras who seeks to face, first of all, his own political impasses. “He is trying to get out of the corner where he is and to cover up the introversion, the internal party controversies, the questioning of his decisions that are erupting, in view of his party congress. It is a move in defense of his growing political discredit and political failure “It’s a result of the despair caused by the latest polls, as on the one hand they confirm the political domination of Kyriakos Mitsotakis and New Democracy and on the other hand they reveal that the battle he is really fighting is to remain in second place,” they said. In addition to the… political pounding, however, of the government against the official opposition party, special mention must be made of the shots fired by Kyriakos Mitsotakis against the Movement for Change. “Although with the official opposition it is now known that we are separated by chaos, political, moral, aesthetic gap, I would expect a more positive response and more creative proposals from KINAL. And I explain: not general principles and easy slogans that end in wishes Realistic measures, costed, adapted to the current conditions, you will not be able, ladies and gentlemen of KINAL-PASOK, to stay on the balcony for a long time with your leader giving vague interviews. Unfortunately, I did not hear such specific proposals during these … I would expect, however, that your declarations of autonomy would eventually lead to an autonomous stance, in a differentiated speech and in a similar vote. “History. You had the choice to differentiate, you fully agreed with the motion of censure of SYRIZA”, noted Mr. Mitsotakis ς. And, as government officials said, for the choice of Charilaou Trikoupi to bet behind SYRIZA “the citizens see, judge and compare”.
