May the 4th Be With You: Four Ways to Celebrate “Star Wars Day”

May the 4th be with you. This Thursday (4) is celebrated “Star Wars Day”, when the famous film franchise and its many TV spinoffs are celebrated.

Here are some ways to lean on the saying “may the 4th be with you,” an allusion to the phrase “may the force be with you,” a phrase first uttered by Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi to Luke Skywalker.

Here’s how to celebrate the day:

  • Follow the official “Star Wars” Twitter account to find everything “Star Wars” related, from news to celebrations.
  • Watch movies and shows

The film franchise has a dozen movies to choose from (if you include the 2008 animated offering “The Clone Wars”), which will keep you pretty busy should you decide to celebrate this day. Not to mention all the TV and streaming content options, including the popular Disney series, “The Mandalorian”. Grab some popcorn and start watching.

  • Listen to some of the songs

John Williams’ memorable soundtracks are streaming on Spotify and Apple Music, so grab your lightsabers.

  • Raise a toast to the late Carrie Fisher

The “Star Wars” actress died on December 27, 2016 from “sleep apnea and other undetermined factors”. She was 60 years old. Her role as Princess Leia is iconic and she will be posthumously honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this May 4th. So today you can toast Fisher and enjoy her memories over the years “a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away”.
