In an interview with CNN This Saturday (14), Fundação Getúlio Vargas professor Rafael Coimbra commented on the suspension of Elon Musk’s offer to acquire Twitter, weeks after agreeing to take the company private in a US$ 44 billion deal.
to Raphael, he would have to use part of the resources linked to the shares to make the purchase. “Maybe he overestimated his calculation, he doesn’t have $44 billion in his wallet and Twitter doesn’t make as much money as other social networks.”
With Musk’s statement, there is distrust on the part of investors, who do not know what the future of Twitter will be like, and also on the part of users, who have uncertainties about the new internal policy.
The professor believes that the number of people active on Twitter is lower than on other platforms, but it is the place that has more political discussions in the world, with influential people.
“If he becomes the owner and has autonomy from the partners, he can reactivate accounts like the former US president Donald Trump, but he will face internal resistance,” he said.
