A mayor and a former councilor from a city in the interior of Amazonas took their differences to the octagon between last Saturday night (11) and Sunday morning (12).
Simão Peixoto (PP), mayor of Borba, and Erineu Alves da Silva, known as Mirico, who was already a member of the city council, participated in an MMA fight. Mirico opposed Peixoto in his days as councilor and invited the city’s authority to a confrontation in the octagon.
Held in the gym of the Balbina Mestrinho State School, in the city of Urucá (AM), and broadcast live on the mayor’s social networks, the fight had publicity material throughout the previous week, with Peixoto as the big star.
The clash, organized by the Municipal Department of Social Assistance, lasted three rounds. Despite taking a takedown early in the fight, the mayor was declared the winner on points at the end.
The objective, according to the organization, was to collect food to distribute to needy families in the city.
The event, which lasted more than four hours, featured several other fights.
