Mayor of Kiev: Any person who walks on the street after 17.00 will be treated as an enemy

The Kyiv municipal authority imposed a curfew, which will last from this afternoon until Monday morning without a break, was announced by the mayor’s office, clarifying a statement issued earlier.

Kiev had earlier said that the curfew would last from 17.00 in the afternoon until 08.00 in the morning, daily.

“For the most effective defense of the capital and the safety of its inhabitants, the traffic ban will last from today (February 26) at 17.00 until the morning of February 28,” a statement said.

The same statement stressed that strict rules are needed to clear the city, which is affected by bombing and fire, from “sabotage of the enemy and reconnaissance teams”.

“All citizens who are on the street during the curfew will be considered members of sabotage and enemy reconnaissance teams,” Vitali Klitschko told the Telegram.

Klitschko also announced that the metro of the Ukrainian capital will be turned into a shelter for residents and will not operate, for the time being, routes.

“The subway is being turned into a shelter,” he wrote in a separate message to the Telegram.
