Mayor of Teolândia publishes TJ-BA decision authorizing Banana Festival in the city

According to Mayor Rosa Baitinga, the municipality of Teolândia obtained authorization from the Court of Justice of the State of Bahia (TJ-BA) to hold the “16th Banana Festival”. The information was published on the mayor’s social media this Saturday (4).

The event, which should take place between the 4th and 13th of June, had been canceled after the Public Ministry of Bahia questioned the planned expenses, calculated at about R$ 2 million.

Among the concerts contracted, there was the one by singer Gusttavo Lima, who would receive R$ 704 thousand for the presentation.

Through a note, Baitinga stated: “The Municipality of Teolândia respects the judicial decision and will comply with all the determinations of the Judiciary, so the Mayor and her team will continue to serve the population to carry out the traditional and cultural event, which attracts tourists, generates wealth, jobs and income for citizens”.

Teolândia is one of the cities that experienced an emergency situation due to the heavy rains that hit Bahia at the end of last year.

The traditional Banana Party will take place thanks to God, the popular will and the authorization of the Judiciary. It is the event of a growth vector of the tourism and entertainment industry [sic]which will help the population to sell products to tourists who visit the city during the nine days of the event.

After the pandemic period, the end-of-year rains and the unprecedented financial crisis, it is necessary to create public policies to circulate wealth, in order to help local commerce and encourage street vendors and micro-entrepreneurs.

The municipality is in days with suppliers and functionalism, active and continuous services in favor of the population.

The people asked and the municipal government has been responding to the wishes of the population to attract investments and help the most needy population, as the Banana Festival is not a public expense, but an investment in well-being, in culture and as a generator of wealth.
