Five days after the storm that left 2.1 million properties without electricity in the capital and Greater São Paulo, mayor Ricardo Nunes (MDB) and the president of Enel SP, Max Xavier Lima, got into a public clash over the trees that affected the net.
In an interview with CNN On Tuesday night, the 7th, Xavier said that yesterday there were still 44 large trees on the power grid that still needed to be removed by the city hall.

“Until they are removed, I cannot go in to change the pole and cables. The tree does not belong to the distributor, but to the municipality. Pruning and management are the responsibility of the municipality”, said the Enel executive.
Soon afterwards, the city council responded, in a note sent to the CNN . “The city hall has registered 3690 requests for power disconnection in order to carry out pruning. And Enel didn’t respond. He has been asking since 2020”, says the message.
