As scheduled, on January 31, Mazda introduced its new model for the North American market. This is a large crossover Mazda CX-90, which has become the new flagship of the brand. It has a three-row layout and is powered by a hybrid powertrain based on Mazda’s most powerful production gasoline engine to date.
The Mazda CX-90 is a flagship crossover that will be offered with a choice of two powertrains. In its top-end configuration, under the hood it will have a new 340 horsepower e-Skyactiv G 3.3L Inline 6 Turbo engine with M-Hybrid Boost mild hybrid system with a 48-volt starter-alternator to reduce fuel consumption without sacrificing performance. And in the second version of the new Mazda CX-90, a 323-horsepower e-Skyactiv PHEV hybrid unit is based on a 2.5-liter gasoline engine, combined with an electric motor and a 17.8 kWh battery. This version is capable of driving on pure electricity up to 48 km. In both cases, the power plant is aggregated with a new eight-speed automatic transmission. By the way, the crossover is built on a completely new large platform and has i-Activ all-wheel drive by default.

Mazda CX-90 is equipped with the latest technology and has an adaptive cruise control system, all-round visibility, blind spot monitoring, lane control and traffic sign recognition. The interior of the crossover is three-row and will be offered in six, seven and eight-seat configurations. There is a virtual dashboard, a D-shaped multifunction steering wheel and a multimedia system with a 10.25- or 12.3-inch display, depending on the selected configuration. The decoration uses nappa leather, fabric, natural veneer and aluminum details. We also need to mention the Bose stereo system, head-up display, USB ports on all three rows and panoramic roof windows.
Outside, the Mazda CX-90 looks quite stylish and at the same time aggressive. Through the combination of smooth curves and sharp edges, the features of the crossover seem to change depending on the lighting and the angle from which you look at it. In general, the Mazda corporate identity can be traced in the exterior. Complementing its design are 21-inch diamond-cut wheels with a black metallic finish.

Interestingly, the manufacturer did not disclose some of the characteristics of the Mazda CX-90, including its dimensions. The cost of the crossover is still kept in secret. It is only reported that its deliveries to North American dealers will start in the spring of 2023. The manufacturer promised to announce more detailed information closer to this time.
