“I was sleeping and then an emergency alert came on my cell phone that a hurricane was coming to where we are, in Orlando. It arrives on Wednesday, actually, but this alert came and I think we’re leaving today”, said Melanie’s mother.
“I’m laughing nervously because I don’t know what to do,” he commented in a video. Soon after, he continued with more information: “We are in Orlando and the hurricane will pass close to us. We want to organize things and go somewhere further away from here, take the car and go because I don’t know if we can catch a plane.”
The winds approaching the city of Disney parks come from Hurricane Milton, which reached category 5, the highest on the scale that measures the intensity of storms.
As a result of the system, Orlando International Airport declared the suspension of activities starting next Wednesday (9). The city’s mayor, Buddy Dyer, declared a state of emergency this Monday in anticipation of the arrival of Hurricane Milton.
