Cybersecurity firm McAfee will soon close a deal to sell it to American private equity firm Advent International for more than $ 10 billion. This was reported yesterday by the Wall Street Journal, citing people familiar with the issue.
The deal is said to be announced on Monday, although negotiations may still fall apart.
McAfee and Advent did not respond to requests for comment from Reuters.
The talks are taking place as the pandemic’s shift to teleworking and the rise in cyberattacks have spurred demand for antivirus and digital security software.
The source recalls that an agreement was recently reached for another major purchase in the antivirus software market. Seeking to become a leader in this area, the American company NortonLifeLock in August agreed to buy Avast for $ 8.6 billion.
