MD Boss: Brazilian Rapper is elected International Revelation at the BET Awards

The Black Entertainment Television Awards (BET Awards) took place this Sunday (26), in California, to celebrate black artists in music, television, film, among other areas.

Among the winners of the night is the Brazilian rapper MD Chef, who won the Best International New Artist category, defeating competitors from countries such as the United Kingdom, South Africa and France.

The interpreter of “Rei Lacoste” was not the only representative of Brazil on the gala night. Ludmilla was also nominated for the Best International Artist category, but lost the award to Tems from Nigeria. The voice of “Maldives” was present on the red carpet.

The ceremony was opened by singer Lizzo, singing the hit “About Damn Time”, which gained prominence on social networks such as TikTok.

Several presenters, entertainers and award winners have spoken out against the US Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wase, which strips away the federal constitutional right to abortion nationwide.

One of the surprises of the night was Brandy’s performance with rapper Jack Harlow, as well as a performance by Mariah Carey.

Will Smith, who was embroiled in controversy during this year’s Oscars ceremony, when he slapped comedian Chris Rock onstage, won Best Actor at BET.
