After delays in an attempt to resolve what seemed to be unsolvable, the PSDB and MDB of Rio Grande do Sul submitted an agreement in favor of a national candidacy. The pre-candidate for the government of Rio Grande do Sul for the MDB, Gabriel Souza, is about to announce that he has given up the race to close an alliance with former governor Eduardo Leite (PSDB), of whom he should be deputy on the state ticket.
Souza’s withdrawal was signaled at a meeting late this Tuesday afternoon (7) between the then Emedebista pre-candidate, Leite, the president of the MDB in the state, Fábio Branco, and the former governor Germano Rigotto (MDB), according to MDB sources heard by the CNN .
Rigotto is in Brasília this Wednesday to continue negotiations with the party’s president, Baleia Rossi, who should take the agreement to the PSDB summit.
The toucans have a meeting of the national executive scheduled for this Thursday (9) to endorse – or not – support for Simone Tebet (MDB) in the dispute for the Plateau and set a deadline until this Wednesday for the solution of regional impasses. PSDB maintains the date, but a possible new postponement is not ruled out depending on the conversations in the federal capital.
There are still incompatibilities between emedebistas and PSDB in Pernambuco and Minas Gerais, but the assessment of the MDB summit and of tucanos heard by the report is that resolving the impasse, at least in Rio Grande do Sul, would already guarantee the seal of Tebet’s name.
After the meeting on Tuesday, the Rio Grande do Sul directorate of the MDB published a note on its website stating that “the MDB of Rio Grande do Sul continues to dialogue with those who wish to build an alliance to continue the state development project, but maintain the pre -Gabriel Souza’s candidacy for Piratini”. According to emedebistas interviewed by the CNN , the note was released because “Gabriel cannot be the first to speak” about the deal. Officially, Gabriel Souza says he remains a pre-candidate.
